Summary
Over these past few months of working with AI, the speed of my own development has drifted further and further from the speed of a team moving in step. With one person and AI combined, things that a company or team used to spend a long time building now take shape in no time. This column is an honest account of what I feel in the middle of that: the bewilderment of an individual who has grown too strong, and my uncertainty about the future of companies and organizations. The individual may be overtaking the organization; when that happens, how should a person live? This is not a piece that settles the answer, but I think through the question using what happened in my daily development, and the feelings that wavered in me there, as clues.
Who this is for and what you can take away
This column is for people who use AI in a company or team and have begun to wonder what to do about how they, or their team, should work from here on. It is not a piece that boasts of the individual growing stronger; from things that actually happened, it thinks together about the bewilderment a person feels when they have grown too strong, and the faint hope that is still visible even so. I do not write a conclusion that rejects the organization. On the premise that an organization has its own meaning, I hope you can take this away as material for thinking about the dividing line: where, then, do the individual and AI come into their own. This article is a column based on a record of what actually happened in these past few months of development and what I felt there.
